On September 24th, 2015, Pope Francis made a brief public appearance on the West Front of the Capitol after his speech to Congress.

Greeting of the Holy Father from the Porch of the United States Capitol:

Good day to all of you.  I thank you for your welcome and your presence.  I thank the most important people here today: the children.  I want to ask God to bless them.  Lord, Father of us all, bless his people, bless each of them, bless their families, grant them what they need most.  I ask you to pray for me and, if there are some among you who do not believe or cannot pray, I ask you please to wish me well.  Thank you.  Thank you very much.  And God bless America!

We would like to pay homage to “Our Holy Father in Philadelphia.” How do we get two tickets to be as close to the mass as possible? We plan to walk across the Ben Franklin Bridge Early in the morning and wish to attend the Mass.

      Hi Janice,

No tickets are needed. You may want to learn about the security perimeter though as the Ben Franklin Bridge may be blocked from public access during the event.

I am planning to attend the Franciscans’ Environmental Rally on “The National Mall” tommorrow September 24 th at 7:00 am. We are all pleased by our Holy Fathers’ attention to this all encompassing issue that effects all of humanity. As Catholics we love and welcome Pope Francis. Do we need tickets to go to the Rally?

There are so many Catholics who would love to attend a mass with Pope Francis but can not because tickets are limitted. This is so sad. Back in the old days, all believers and non-believers could come and listen to Jesus. Now, we need to apply for the limitted tickets to see our Pope.

It is sad, but it is also important for security reasons because there are bad people in the world who want to hurt our beloved pontiff.

His address to a joint meeting of Congress — historic enough since it’s the first time a religious leader who also is a head of state has addressed the body of lawmakers — will be broadcast live on Jumbotron screens on the West Front of the Capitol.

Who might DC residents reach out to in order to obtain tickets? Taxation without representation…

How many tickets are allocated to each Congressperson?

Do Senators also receive an allocation of tickets?

I asked this previously but my question does not appear to be showing. Will people who don’t have a ticket be able to see the Pope during his appearance on the West Front of the Capitol? I can’t tell if it’s a completely closed event where nobody but those with tickets can see him, or it’s like a Presidential Inauguration where you may be really far away, but still able to see him. Thanks.

I would love two tickets for my Mother and I. She is 78 and her Great Aunt was Mother Demitri, she started CCD in the United States. We have been devout Catholics all our lives. It has been a dream of mine to meet/see the Pope in person.
