After visiting St. Patrick’s church and attending the St. Maria Meals Program luncheon, Pope Francis departed at 4 p.m. from the Joint Base Andrews for his next destination: New York. Later, he arrived at the John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York, NY at 5 p.m.
Historically, New York City has been a key location for papal visits to the United States with Pope Paul VI, John Paul II, and Benedict XVI visiting the city during their pontificate. It is also considered the largest city in the United States with a population of over 8 million.
